Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic Finally Get One UI 8 Watch Update

Though Samsung took its time, the One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, based on Wear OS 6, is finally here. With this, Samsung has pushed the latest OS update to all of its modern smartwatches, sticking to its promise. However, this will be the last major update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 gets One UI 8 Watch update in South Korea

The One UI 8 Watch update is currently rolling out to Wi-Fi variants of the smartwatches in South Korea. But as with most updates, this one will also expand to other regions and models in the coming weeks. The update reportedly brings firmware version R870XXU1JYK4/ R8700XM1JYK4, and appears to be over 1GB in size, making it a good idea to download it over Wi-Fi.

If you’re in the South Korea region, you can check for the update by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and then head to Watch settings > Watch software update and tap Download and install. Once the update is downloaded, hit the Install now button to begin the installation, but be sure the battery is at least 50%.

This will be the last major update for the smartwatches

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic debuted in 2021. They were the first Wear OS-based smartwatches from Samsung. Wear OS 4-based One UI 5 Watch, to be precise. Now that they’re over 4 years old, the Galaxy Watch 4 series will be ineligible for future major updates.

One UI 8 Watch is a major upgrade that brings a refreshed UI. It brings a Tiles page that can have multiple widgets, complications, and more. The much-hyped Now Bar feature from Galaxy smartphones makes its way to your smartwatch. This will display ongoing activities like music playback and workouts. You get new double pinch gestures and wrist shake actions. You also get Bedtime Guidance for better sleep assistance and the Vascular Load feature.

There are some notable additions like improved notifications view, new battery charging effects, and a list view in the app drawer. Samsung had already pushed the One UI 8 Watch to the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 6 series.
