Hindalco Industries expects a potential disruption in its aluminium extrusion business due to the Force Majeure declaration by certain gas suppliers.
The company in a notification to exchanges said it has not halted operations of Aluminium Extrusions business but issued communication to customers following a Force Majeure declaration by certain gas suppliers and was a routine business intimation regarding a potential supply disruption in a segment of the extrusions business.
The Aluminium Extrusions segment constitutes a small portion of Hindalco’s production capacity, and the potential impact is currently limited to less than 0.1 per cent of the company’s overall operations.
All other Downstream and Upstream operations, including primary aluminium, continue to operate normally, supported by captive power and alternate energy arrangements, said the company.
Hindalco has extrusion plants at Renukoot (Uttar Pradesh), Alupuram (Kerala) and Silvassa (Dadra and Nagar Haveli). It acquired Hydro’s SAPA aluminium extrusions plant in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. The company has an annual production capacity of 115,000 tonne.
The company manufactures a wide range of customised aluminium extrusions from billets made inhouse.
Hindalco specialises in manufacturing custom profiles for various industries, including automotive, building and construction, defence, aerospace, maritime, renewable energies and railways.
Its extrusions manufacturing process is strengthened by in-house capabilities, including billet casting, die manufacturing, pressing, anodising, powder coating fabrication and assembly.
