Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

This time around, we’re comparing two flip phone foldable devices from Motorola and Samsung. To be more accurate, this is a Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE comparison. So, the very best from Motorola is going against a more budget-oriented foldable from Samsung. We’ve already compared Motorola’s latest foldable with the very best Samsung has to offer at the moment.

As we usually do, we will first list the specs of both smartphones and will then move to compare them across a number of other categories. We will be comparing their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. Let’s see how the notably more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE holds up vs one of the best, if not the best flip phone foldable on the market at the moment.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Design

If you look at the two phones from the front, when they’re unfolded, you’ll realize how similar they are. They both have a tall and narrow profile with a flat, foldable display. The corner curvature is basically the same, and there is a centered display camera hole up top. The bezels around the phones are quite thin and uniform on both smartphones. You’ll notice the power/lock and volume up and down keys on the right. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 also has an AI key on the left.

Both frames are made out of aluminum, though they’re a bit different. The one on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is flat, while it curves slightly towards the edges. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026’s frame is slightly rounded in general; it’s not flat. If we flip them around, you’ll notice even more differences. Both phones do have a flat backplate, but they’re different. The ones on the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 come in different finishes, depending on the color you choose. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has one finish: glass. So Motorola’s handset can offer way more grip.

Their cover display also looks a bit different. The one on the Razr 2026 Ultra is larger and thus takes up more space. It’s also visually more appealing because of that. The one on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has a folder-type design, where the two cameras don’t sit inside the display. The cameras are horizontally aligned on both phones, though. Both devices are IP48 certified, while the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 also comes with a MIL-STD-810H certification. Motorola’s handset is a bit taller, wider, and thicker in comparison, while it’s also 12 grams heavier.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Display

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 features a 7-inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED display. That panel is flat, and it supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 165Hz. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The peak brightness here is 5,000 nits, while the panel offers a resolution of 2992 x 1224 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 87%. The cover display measures 4 inches, and it offers a resolution of 1272 x 1080 pixels. It is an LTPO AMOLED display, and it can project up to 1 billion colors. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The refresh rate goes up to 165Hz here as well. This display is protected by the Gorilla Glass Ceramic.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch main panel. That’s a Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, while HDR10+ content is supported. The peak brightness here is 2,600 nits. This panel has a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of around 86%. The cover display has a resolution of 748 x 720, and it measures 3.4 inches. It’s a Super AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects it.

While all four displays are solid with good viewing angles and vividness, the Razr Ultra 2026 has the edge. Why? Well, both of its panels do get brighter in comparison, not to mention that the cover display is notably sharper. On top of that, the refresh rate on the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 panels is considerably higher in comparison, especially if we take into account their cover displays.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Performance

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. That is Qualcomm’s flagship chip for last year, and it’s a 3nm processor. That chip is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. Do note that the storage here is not expandable, but you’re getting 512GB of it.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the flip side, is fueled by the Samsung Exynos 2400 processor. That’s a 4nm chip from Samsung, and it’s paired with 8GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage on the inside. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, much like Motorola’s handset, does not offer storage expansion, but this phone comes in 128GB and 256GB storage options.

Now, if we compare their performance directly, you’ll quickly realize that the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is the snappier of the two. That’s not to say that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is slow or anything; it does well in terms of performance. Motorola is a bit snappier, though, due to superior SoC and memory, most likely. It is also a better choice for demanding games if that’s something you plan on doing with the phone.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Battery

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 comes with a 5,000mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the other hand, includes a 4,000mAh battery on the inside. Motorola opted for silicon-carbon tech this time around, luckily. Our Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 review is not out yet, but we can safely say that the battery life is better than what the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE offers, based on the experience thus far.

That battery is considerably larger, and that probably has plenty to do with it. During our mixed usage, similar as the one we had with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, it does provide notably better battery life; we’ll talk more about that in our full review, but just keep that in mind. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE doesn’t exactly win any award for its battery life, and it was overshadowed by last year’s ‘Ultra’ flip foldable from Motorola as well.

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 supports 68W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W reverse wired charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the flip side, supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. It takes the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE around an hour and a half to reach a full charge. Motorola’s handset will get there notably faster, but we can’t share full numbers just yet; stay tuned. Both smartphones ship without a charger in the box.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Cameras

The Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 has two cameras on the back. The main snapper is a 50-megapixel unit with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size. It has an f/1.8 aperture lens, and it supports PDAF and OIS. The other camera is a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, with an f/2.0 aperture lens. It also includes a 1/2.93-inch sensor size and offers a 122-degree FoV.

    Motorola Razr Ultra 2026

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the flip side, has a 50-megapixel main camera as well, but a different unit. It includes a 1/1.57-inch sensor size and an f/1.8 aperture lens. Dual Pixel PDAF is supported, as is OIS. The second camera is a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit with a 1/3.2-inch sensor size and an f/2.2 aperture lens. This camera offers a 123-degree FoV.

Based on our experience thus far, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 does have the edge in terms of photography. The images do end up looking more realistic and offer a better balance. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE does have a tendency to overdo saturation, and it’s less reliable. When it comes to video, neither phone will win awards, in all honesty, and both of them are missing that telephoto camera quite a bit.

    Audio

There are stereo speakers included on both of these phones. The ones on the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 did sound a bit louder to our ears, but the difference is minimal. The sound quality output is good on both.

What about the headphone jack? Well, it’s not included on either phone. You can still use their Type-C ports to connect your wired headphones, though. Alternatively, Bluetooth 5.4 is at your disposal on both phones.
