According to a new report from a trusted tipster, two upcoming iPhones will be “largely unchanged in appearance.” The info is coming from Fixed Focus Digital, and he’s referring to the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2.
The iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 may barely change
Do note that neither of these two phones is tipped to arrive this year, however. The iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 are expected to arrive in 2027, not in September this year. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable are slated to launch in September 2026.
In any case, the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 are said to see only minimal changes, and to look basically the same as the current-gen models. The tipster claims that the iPhone 18 could see some small changes in terms of sizing, but the design itself will remain basically identical to that of the iPhone 17.
Regarding the iPhone Air 2, he said that it will be a “normal iteration.” In other words, don’t expect major changes for that device either. Some reports said that a second camera will be included, but this report doesn’t really point in that direction.
This is not exactly a surprise
This seems to be the norm for Apple, so it’s not exactly surprising. The company rarely makes major design changes, and major changes in general to its devices. The iPhone 17 was an exception, as that was a huge jump in the right direction from the iPhone 16.
In fact, I’d go as far as saying that it was the biggest jump from one version of an iPhone to the next ever. That is arguable, of course, but the iPhone 17 really is a great option for so many people for so many reasons, and notably superior to its predecessor.
All focus during Apple’s September 2026 launch will be on the company’s first foldable, of course. We’ve been seeing so much information leak about that phone, including its alleged name. It will allegedly be called the iPhone Ultra, not the iPhone Fold.
