    GPS Renewables (GPSR) has commenced construction of India’s first ethanol-to-jet (ETJ) sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Pudimadaka, Achyutapuram in Andhra Pradesh,

    The company has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC ) to be developed at NTPC Green Energy’s Green Hydrogen Hub in the State.

    As the primary contractor, GPS Renewables will deliver the project with its technology and engineering partners. Lummus Technology will provide the ETJ technology licence and basic engineering for the process. Xytel India, a specialist in skid-mounted, modular, and fully automated pilot/mini plant solutions, will provide detailed engineering for the core process package

    GPS Renewables, supported by Lummus, will lead all engineering, including the hydrogen generation package, and offsites and Utilities, along with procurement, construction, start-up, and commissioning.

    The plant will produce 1,800 tonnes per annum (TPA) SAF using ethanol derived from CO2. The plant will use a demonstrated process chain: ethanol-to-ethylene conversion, olefins oligomerisation, and hydroprocessing to produce SAF and renewable diesel., according to a relase.
