Instagram is a widely used social media platform. Among its features, the Live mode is used by many influencers. You could individually use it with your friends and family for fun and connection, but now, you can’t. Meta has introduced a minimum follower requirement for users to go live on the Instagram app.
Instagram Live now mandates a minimum follower requirement
Instagram has added a new requirement to its Live mode. Going further, you will need a minimum of 1,000 followers and a public account to go live on the platform. It has not provided any clarification on this move. But this move could be to benefit the servers and stop unwanted spam.
As said earlier, the Live mode on Instagram was used not only by influencers but by individual users. But as the minimum follower requirement kicks in, only a handful of users are going to get access to the feature. Influencers or accounts with more than 1,000 followers should relax, as this move is not going to affect them in any way.
Meta notifies of the change via the support page
Though the firm has not released any statement regarding the change, it has notified of it on its support page. If you do not satisfy the minimum follower requirement and try to go live on Instagram, you will get a pop-up clarifying that “Your account is no longer eligible for live”.
Instagram has been making a lot of changes to its platform lately. It previously removed the Live feature for users under the age of 16, citing safety concerns. Users under 16 were allowed to use the Live feature only if they had their parents’ permission. But due to the new change, teenage users can no longer access Live at all because their accounts are private by default.
