Kerala-based mental health startup Oppam has raised ₹1.5 crore in seed funding to expand access to culturally rooted mental health care.

The funding round is led by Phoenix Angels, along with participation from angel investor Sandeep Balaji and his network, and a few founders from the Kerala startup ecosystem.

    Global reach

Founded by Ebrahim Hawaz, Abdulla Kunhi, and Mubashira Rahman, Oppam is a 24/7 vernacular mental health platform designed to serve Indians worldwide. All three founders hail from Kasaragod and started Oppam to solve the gap in language-first, stigma-aware mental health support.

To date, Oppam has delivered 20,000+ therapy sessions to Malayalees across 40+ countries. The platform currently offers round-the-clock online consultations with consultant psychologists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and sexual therapists.

The investment was facilitated during the 1Tank event by 1trepreneur, held at Huddle Global, one of the largest startup events organized by the Kerala Startup Mission.

    Growth roadmap

Ebrahim Hawaz, CEO of Oppam, said the capital will primarily be used to accelerate growth, expand into new languages, and strengthen technology infrastructure to support large-scale operations. With this funding, Oppam plans to deepen its impact by making mental health care more accessible, inclusive, and available 24/7 for underserved communities worldwide.
