Opera’s New Neon Browser Can Create Games, Code, and Reports

Opera, the Norwegian tech company, has introduced its new Opera Neon browser. It is an artificial intelligence or AI agent-powered browser that reimagines how a browser looks and functions. Opera has designed the new internet browser to create AI-powered agentic workflows that either assist you directly or automatically perform tasks in the background on your behalf.

Opera has launched Neon, a web browsing platform powered by AI agents

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) and a blog post, Opera has announced the Neon AI agentic web browser. “Opera Neon can browse with you or for you, take action, and help you get things done,” as per Opera. Additionally, Opera highlighted that the agentic browser possesses contextual awareness and can perform tasks on behalf of users. These tasks can include researching, creating, and designing anything the users need.

Henrik Lexow, Opera’s senior AI product director, said in a press release that “AI can fundamentally change the way we use the internet and perform all sorts of tasks in the browser.” One of the key features of the new platform is its AI engine, which can “understand and interpret” user requests, using cloud-based AI agents to fulfill them.

The Opera Neon browser provides advanced artificial intelligence tools similar to those in Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s Operator. It has a chatbot interface for web browsing, answering questions, and getting “contextual information” from the current webpage. It also comes with an AI agent (formerly known as Browser Operator), which allows users to automate routine tasks like online shopping or filling out forms.

Opera says that there are three core functionalities of Neon: Chat, Do, and Make. It is capable of understanding your intent and performing actions on your behalf. The Chat feature can answer questions for you just like any other AI chatbot. The Do functionality provides an agentic web browsing experience, while the Make feature can take your prompt and create new content, games, or even web-based applications.

Furthermore, the Opera Neon browser can generate code to visualize your ideas or create a report on something. For example, if you want to play some old games, you can ask it to develop a game. As of now, Opera’s new AI browser is invite-only. Opera community members can join the new platform’s waitlist to access the new browser experience. Furthermore, it is a subscription-based product, but the company hasn’t yet announced pricing tiers.
