Prosus to invest $100 million in Sachin Bansal’s Navi in first institutional fundraise

Fintech company Navi has announced a $100 million investment from global technology investor Prosus, marking the company’s first institutional capital raise and strengthening its position as it looks to scale its digital financial services businesses.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

The investment will deepen the relationship between Navi founder and Executive Chairman Sachin Bansal and Prosus, which dates back more than a decade through Naspers and the Prosus Group.

Bansal said the investment was a “strong endorsement” of the institution Navi is building and that the company would benefit from Prosus’s global perspective, long-term approach and experience in scaling technology businesses.

Ashutosh Sharma, Head of Prosus India Investments and M&A, said Navi demonstrated several qualities that the investor looks for, including a large base of loyal users, multiple business lines, a technology-first approach and a focus on consumer experience.

The investment comes as Navi enters its next phase of growth with improving operating metrics across payments and lending. During FY26, Navi UPI retained its position as India’s fourth-largest UPI application, while Navi Finserv’s assets under management crossed ₹13,000 crore.

The group also reported consolidated profitability in the fourth quarter of FY26, which Navi said reflected improving economics and increasing operating leverage across its businesses.

For Prosus, the investment adds another Indian fintech exposure to its portfolio as the sector matures beyond payments towards lending and broader financial services. For Navi, the capital comes at a significant point as it seeks to scale its technology-led financial services platform while maintaining profitability.

Unlike several Indian fintech companies that have relied on multiple rounds of institutional funding to scale, Navi has largely been built under Bansal’s ownership. The Prosus investment therefore marks a shift in its capital structure while giving the company an institutional investor with experience in backing technology businesses over the long term.
