    Towards developing a Global Plan of Action on the Health of Indigenous Peoples

    This interactive side event during the 24th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) will delve into the guiding principles and priority areas of action that will underpin the upcoming Global Plan of Action for the health of Indigenous Peoples.

    Indigenous leaders, experts and advocates will explore critical themes including: 

    • The protection and promotion of Indigenous traditional medicine systems for health, climate change resilience and biodiversity conservation  
    • The importance of Indigenous traditional knowledge in building resilient and culturally-rooted health systems 
    • The role of mental health as part of a holistic approach to health in Indigenous communities

    The event will conclude with an open discussion, inviting participants to share reflections and feedback on the proposed priorities and principles for the draft Global Plan. 

    This event will be recorded.

    • Binota Moy Dhamai, member of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP)

    Interpretation will be available in English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
