What carrier sends the most RCS messages every day?

What carrier sends the most RCS messages every day?

Thanks to several companies (most of all Google; least of all Apple), RCS (Rich Communication Services) is spreading throughout the tech industry. Around the world, people are starting to experience the benefits of this new messaging technology. Stateside, all of the major carriers facilitate RCS messaging, but one carrier helped deliver the most.

In case you don’t know what RCS is, it’s the successor to SMS messaging. SMS (Short Message Service) was the standard for phones over the years, but its limitations, like the 160-character limit and cap on media size, held it back. The technology debuted 32 years ago, so an upgrade was long (LONG) overdue.

RCS increases the character limit while allowing people to make group chats, react to messages, send larger media files, and much more. The technology also allows you to send encrypted messages. It brings your phone’s standard text messaging capabilities closer to what you get from social media and internet-based messaging services.

Google is still flexing its RCS chops. The company announced that more than a billion RCS messages hit the air every day. That’s impressive, but RCS can’t exist without carriers to carry the signal. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon all allow people to send RCS messages between phones.

However, one of these carriers is responsible for sending the most. According to the report, T-Mobile holds that crown. T-Mobile sends nearly two-thirds of the RCS messages sent every day, which is immense. T-Mobile told Android Authority that it sends an average of 613 million RCS messages each day. This leaves the competition in the dust.

This figure includes the smaller carriers that use T-Mobile’s signals, like Metro by T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, Google Fi, and others. So, it seems that the other carriers have a lot of work to do if they want to catch up.
