How to gain access to the Battlefield 6 open beta

Battlefield 6 is only a few months away, but you can try the game out early in the upcoming open beta, so there’s no reason to wait for the official launch that’s coming up later this year. EA officially revealed the launch date for Battlefield 6 when it showed off multiplayer for the game for the first time back on July 31. At that time, it also announced the open beta test. This will give players across the globe to try out Battlefield 6 months ahead of its release.

Unlike some beta tests, Battlefield 6 will be available across all platforms where the game is launching. This includes PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. There are also a few ways to play the open beta. Unfortunately, not all methods of gaining access are available at this moment, as some were time-sensitive.

How to play the Battlefield 6 open beta early

To play the Battlefield 6 open beta early, that is, before anyone else (save for everyone who also has early access), you’ll have had to do one of three different things. The first two methods are no longer available. That being said, we’re going to go over them anyway. Just in case you may have forgotten about them.

Watching streamers on Twitch during the multiplayer reveal

Obviously, the multiplayer reveal is over, so you can no longer benefit from this method. Having said that, if you happened to watch your favorite streamers on Twitch play during the reveal stream event, you probably have access. You’ll want to redeem your access before August 7th so you can play as early as possible.

To gain access this way, you needed to watch select streamers on Twitch during the reveal stream. Watching for an hour rewarded you with a code. You would then need to claim the open beta code from your Drops and Rewards section in your profile drop-down menu. After claiming your code, you then needed to redeem the code at EA’s dedicated Battlefield website.

    Signing up for Battlefield Labs

You can no longer sign up for Battlefield Labs as it is currently not accepting new participants. Signing up also doesn’t guarantee you a spot in the testing pool. All of that aside, if you signed up for Battlefield Labs before July 31, 2025, then you automatically have early access to the open beta.

You don’t even need to have been accepted to the Battlefield Labs testing. Simply registering your interest gained you early access. So, if you registered at any point after EA first announced Battlefield Labs back in 2024, then double-check your emails. Because you may have an email saying you have early access.

Sign up for EA Play Pro

Another method is still accessible to anyone. If you’re an EA Play Pro member, you’ll get early access to the open beta. For this method, you’ll need to have logged in to the EA app with the account that’s tied to the subscription. Once done, you should be able to play starting on the 7th once things go live.

Watch Twitch streamers play the open beta on August 7

There were no doubt lots of interested players who weren’t able to watch Twitch streamers on July 31 during the multiplayer reveal. So, EA is giving players one more way to watch if they missed out last month. On Thursday, August 7, you simply have to watch any Twitch stream that is playing the Battlefield 6 open beta for 30 minutes. After doing that, you’ll gain early access and can install the open beta and begin playing yourself.

There are a few things to note. You will need to make sure your EA account and Twitch accounts are linked. So, do that before you begin watching any of the streams for that 30-minute time period.

The open beta starts on August 9

If you don’t have early access and you don’t want to subscribe to EA Play Pro, then you can wait till August 9 and still play. The open beta for everyone starts on August 9 and goes through August 10. It then opens up again the following week, beginning on August 14 and going through August 17.

You can play on any platform where your EA account is linked

While some open beta tests are only for certain platforms, Battlefield 6 will be open to pretty much every platform. That includes PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The good news with PC is that you don’t even have to play through the EA app. The beta is available on Steam as well. It’s also available through the Epic Games store. You can get everything set up by choosing your platform here.

Don’t forget to preload the open beta

One last thing to keep in mind is that the open beta preload is available, and you’ll want to get that out of the way as soon as possible. Whether you have early access or not, you don’t want to be sitting around waiting for the files to install when you could be playing. The preload was opened up on August 4. Once you have your platform selected, proceed to download the open beta client and install files.
