Bullies used to call me big bird, now they want my weight-loss tips

Woman called ‘big bird’ at school says bullies want tips after 7st weight loss

A woman who was called ‘big bird’ at school because she was overweight and went on to be a size 20 says former bullies now beg her for weight loss tips after she lost seven stone. Olivia Bennett said she struggled with her weight ever since she was a teen, with cruel kids branding her ‘fat’ and ‘big bird’.

The 29-year-old tried a number of unsuccessful diets over the years, eventually tipping the scales at 16st 1lbs. The 5ft 5in mum-of-one, who couldn’t walk for longer than 15 minutes due to her size, decided to try Mounjaro in January 2025, ordering the skinny jab from an online pharmacy.

Olivia says it’s been ‘life-changing from the moment I took it’, helping her slim down to a slinky size 8. The bank worker, who now weighs 9st 2lbs after shedding 7st, says the same cruel bullies who taunted her now regularly watch her social media content and beg for tips.

Olivia, from Belfast, said: “During school I was always the bigger girl. All my friends were very slim and I always carried a good bit more weight than everybody else. I got mean comments and bullying all the time – especially in high school.

“I always felt like I wanted a chance to fit in with the cool crew and I tried really hard with that. I would always get the comments ‘she’s fat’ or ‘there’s big bird’.”

These same cruel kids who used to taunt Olivia now regularly watch her content and even ask for tips, but says she just ignores them. Olivia said: “Loads of people from school message me who used to be a bully, asking me about Mounjaro and saying I look great.

“I just don’t even reply to them. It’s funny because they didn’t like me when I was fat and now that I’m thinner, they want to talk. It is empowering [that they message me] – I feel like I’ve proved them wrong.”

Admitting she couldn’t walk for long periods before taking the skinny jab, Olivia says she feels better both mentally and physically after shedding more than 7st.

Olivia said: “I couldn’t walk or run or anything like that [when I was bigger]. Within the first three months [of using Mounjaro] I think I lost about 3st 1lbs – It felt amazing, I couldn’t believe it. I can walk on my walking pad for 16 minutes now. I feel so much more confident and I would have never started TikTok if I didn’t feel confident the way I do now.”

Olivia says taking Mounjaro has been ‘life changing’ and will continue to take it until she has reached her goal weight of 8st 6lbs.

Olivia said: “From the first moment I took Mounjaro, it was basically life changing. My target weight is 8st 6lbs for my height and my BMI so once I reach that I’m going to gradually go down the doses and see how I get on with that.”
