Surprisingly, we have not seen a lot of leaks regarding Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 series. A bit surprising, given how bad Google has historically been with keeping things a secret. Some years, we’ve had full-on reviews out a month before the announcement, but this year, we’ve seen very little. Until now.
Thanks to 9to5Toys, which seems to have found placeholders for the upcoming Pixel 11 from different retailers, we have an idea of what to expect, in terms of colors.
For the Pixel 11, we’re looking at three colors: Obsidian, Hibiscus, and Pistachio, which could be placeholder names. As 9to5Google points out, those names do not line up with previous leaks, but digging into the descriptions, they can see “Midnight”, “Fuchsia”, and “Moss” as the color names, which do line up with leaks we’ve seen already.
They’ve also found images of the Pixel 11 Pro in Dune and Sterling colors. While the Pixel 11 Pro Fold has shown up in Pine and Midnight.
The listing does include a few specs, like the Pixel 11 coming with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Which shows that Google has likely decided against doing an 8GB model to keep prices down. Instead, they are likely swallowing the pill and raising prices.
The Android Headlines Take
The placeholder colors, Obsidian, Hibiscus, and Pistachio, are likely going to be the names of the colors. As we found out last year, Google does tend to play around with the names of its colors for the Pixel before landing on the final marketing names. It would also be very surprising to see Google get away from using the “Obsidian” name, which has been a mainstay since Pixel 6.
It’s important to keep in mind that retailer listings like this will include a lot of placeholder aspects. So things like specs, color names, and accessory names could all be wrong by the time the device is announced. Which will be on August 12.
