Samsung is actively testing One UI 9 for its eligible devices. New information suggests the company is now planning to release One UI 9 beta for one of its mid-range devices, the Galaxy A35. Until now, the testing program was reserved for the latest high-end phones. That seems to be changing as the firm expands the program to more devices.
One UI 9 beta update is on the way for Galaxy A35 devices
As per the latest information, a new One UI 9 beta firmware, reportedly meant for the Galaxy A35, has been spotted on Samsung’s servers. Moreover, the software carries the build number A356NKSUAZZH5. Firmware appearing on Samsung’s servers is not random. It’s concrete evidence that Samsung may be preparing to open beta access for the smartphone.
Earlier, it was reported that Samsung will expand the beta program beyond the Galaxy S26 series after the launch of the latest Galaxy Fold. However, about one month has passed since the Galaxy Unpacked event. And there’s no official announcement about wider beta availability. The latest leak suggests Samsung is on the way to expand its beta testing to more eligible phones.
One UI 9 beta will be based on Android 17
The One UI 9 update will be based on the latest Android 17. Alongside the core Android changes, the UI will bring tons of new features and optimizations. Joining the beta program will allow users to have a glimpse of new changes before the stable version arrives. However, testing versions are often riskier and unstable. The Galaxy A35 launched with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. Samsung promised four major Android upgrades for the phone. The company has already delivered two of those upgrades, with the device currently running One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 QPR2. This update history leaves room for One UI 9 to arrive as the third major upgrade.
