The wait for the next testing beta software build for the Galaxy S26 is almost over. After a three-week gap following the release of Beta 4, Samsung has officially addressed the delay surrounding the Android 17-based One UI 9 beta 5 update for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Polishing software stability ahead of the official release
Responding to community inquiries, a Samsung Beta Operations Manager confirmed that Beta 5 will officially roll out next week. The company also issued a brief apology to community members for the slight schedule pushback. The development team needed more time for final quality checks and system optimization, they said (via Tarun Vats).
The official posts did not outline specific new features or patch notes. However, at this point, beta releases are generally aimed at fixing current bugs, improving performance and keeping the system stable overall before moving to a full public release.
According to reports, the rollout of the firmware will start in South Korea before expanding over-the-air to enrolled users in the US, UK, Germany, Poland, India, and other active beta regions. Testers can expect the update to drop anytime between August 10 and August 15.
Expanding the One UI 9.0 rollout across Galaxy devices
The upcoming release of Beta 5 brings Samsung closer to launching the official, stable version of One UI 9.0 for its flagship smartphone lineup. The stable software build actually made its public debut alongside the latest foldable devices—the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8. This makes the Galaxy S26 series next in line to receive the final update.
Once the Galaxy S26 finishes its beta testing cycle, Samsung plans to expand the One UI 9.0 Beta Program to previous-generation premium models. Owners of the Galaxy S25 series (including the S25 FE) alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 can expect access to beta builds shortly after the S26 transition completes.
