Google Translate has been steadily evolving into something more than just a translation app. There’s the Practice mode, an AI-powered language learning tool that lets users improve their speaking and listening skills through realistic conversations. One of the most useful features within this is streak tracking. Now, it seems that Google Translate is reportedly testing a “Practice mode” widget to keep tabs on daily learning streaks right from the home screen.
For some context, streaks allow you to see how many consecutive days you practiced. Your streak increases when you complete at least one Practice activity each day. While digging through the latest version of the Google Translate app, version 10.23.29.934758792.2, folks at Android Authority have discovered that the tech giant is working on a new “Practice streak” widget for Android.
While you are currently reminded about a practice via notifications, those reminders can often be missed. It seems Google wants to make things simpler and visible at all times through a new home screen widget. This will also serve as a constant reminder about practices.

The widget displays the current practice streak in days directly on the home screen. Tapping it takes you to the Practice mode in Google Translate. Like most widgets, this too can reportedly be resized. But then, there’s very little information to display, so there’s a lot of empty space when expanded.
The idea isn’t entirely new, as Duolingo already offers a streak widget on Android. This lets users keep an eye on their daily learning stream right from the home screen. Google seems to be taking the same route here by bringing Practice mode streaks to the home screen. That said, the feature is still in development and isn’t available to everyone just yet. We’ll update when it rolls out, though.
