What to do at Giant’s Lair:
Officially known as Fionn’s Giant Adventure in Northern Ireland’s Slieve Gullion Forest Park, you can begin by exploring the enchanted woodland trial.
Meanwhile, families can hunt for hidden fairy doors, crawl through tunnels and discover local mythical folklore featuring giants, witches, and dragons.
To really get stuck in, you can pick up an activity map at the Visitor Information Centre to follow the living storybook path. Navigate multi-level structures with hidden spiral staircases, crawl tunnels, and even a jungle bridge connected to the Ladybird House.
Don’t forget to stop at the Giant’s Table where you can take a peek at the witchy Cailleach Beara, and inside the Blue Belle Cottage.
Any household travelling with a toddler can take part in a local tradition of leaving their dummies behind on the special “Dummy Tree” for the fairies.
And lastly, conquer the Adventure Playpark which is located right beside the trail. Children can burn off energy at the massive local play area.
But if you plan to stay a bit longer, you can also drive the 10km Scenic Forest Drive for views of the Ring of Gullion, or stop by the Slieve Gullion Courtyard for grub.
