Profitability was driven by robust summer demand leading to revenue growth across categories

Milky Mist, the Tamil Nadu-based value-added dairy product company, on Monday reported nearly 10x growth in profit after tax for the first quarter ended June 2025 at ₹64.7 crore, against ₹6.5 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations went up 44 per cent at ₹973 crore (₹678 crore) in its maiden quarterly results after going public.

Profitability was driven by robust summer demand leading to revenue growth across categories. The profit growth was also aided by a decrease in finance costs, as well as favourable tax adjustments of around ₹9.7 crore.

The company expects to grow roughly at 33-35 per cent in FY27, in line with the company’s growth rate in the last 4-5 financial years.

Speaking at a media press conference, K Rathnam, Whole-time Director and CEO, Milky Mist, said the revenue growth was aided by strong y-o-y growth in the summer portfolio due to an extended summer season, particularly across South India.

“We have further strengthened the growth through continued process and product innovation while improving our market penetration in existing markets as well as and expanding to new geographies by adding nearly 200 additional distributors,” he said.

The paneer segment, the company’s largest topline contributor, grew 34 per cent on a y-o-y basis, while the ice cream category grew 60 per cent. Cheese and curd categories grew 38 per cent and 27 per cent y-o-y respectively, while yogurt emerged as the standout performer, with a y-o-y growth of 153 per cent, likely due to its premium protein and greek yogurt offerings.

Rathnam said that going forward panner will continue to be the MilkyMist’s star product category, especially given the recent crackdown by FSSAI on analogue and other unorganised forms of the product. He added that if the ban on analogue paneer catches up nationwide, the company may evaluate further expansions of its capacity for the category in Q2. MilkyMist is currently India’s largest private producer of paneer.

“Today about 92-94 per cent of the ₹1 lakh crore paneer manufacturing in India is handled by the unorganised sector, with a miniscule 6-7 per cent handled by organised players. Given we have a capacity to produce about 150 tonmes of paneer every day, we are looking at a very prominent growth in this category going forward,” he said.

Biswajit Mishra, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Milky Mist, said the company did not take any price hike in Q1FY27, with the 10.6 per cent, or roughly 11 per cent price increase taken in Q4FY26, supporting margins in the June quarter. “With milk procurement and other input costs rising, we have recently taken some price increases in Q2FY27 as well,” he said.

This was the company’s first quarterly result after its ₹1,553 crore public market debut earlier this month.
