Musi River Rejuvenation Project will be implemented with transparency: Telangana Cabinet Sub-Committee

The Musi rejuvenation would not only transform Hyderabad’s landscape but also improve the living standards of people in the river basin.

The Musi rejuvenation would not only transform Hyderabad’s landscape but also improve the living standards of people in the river basin.

The Telangana Cabinet Sub-Committee directed the officials to implement the Musi River Rejuvenation Project in a transparent manner by addressing all public concerns and building trust.

A Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on the project was held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with senior officials reviewed project progress, mobilisation of funds and construction timelines.

    Key guidelines

While issuing key guidelines to the officials on the implementation of the project, the committee said the Musi River Rejuvenation Project was not merely a river-cleaning exercise but a broader social responsibility.

The government has decided to implement the project in a transparent and democratic manner, the Deputy Chief Minister said and directed to address all public concerns and build complete trust among citizens. Safeguarding public interest was the government’s top priority, he said.

The committee suggested modifying project alignments to reduce the impact on existing structures. Officials were instructed to plan meticulously and execute the project without causing inconvenience to the public.

The Musi rejuvenation would not only transform Hyderabad’s landscape but also improve the living standards of people in the river basin. The development and public welfare must go hand in hand and that the success of the project would depend on active public participation, the committee said, according to a release.

According to official data, the project will be implemented in five phases covering 55 km. Phase-1, estimated at approximately ₹7,055 crore, has successfully completed technical and financial discussions with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for funding. The Cabinet Sub-committee instructed officials to start the initial construction work on the first 5 km stretch immediately.
