Samsung is picking up the pace with its software releases across North America. Following the initial launch in South Korea, the company is now expanding its stable Android 17 update to users in the US. More specifically, the One UI 9 rollout is hitting the Galaxy S25 lineup alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldables.
As SammyGuru highlights, carrier-locked variants and unlocked models are picking up the firmware across major American networks. Global users in other regions should see update notifications starting next week as regional deployments ramp up globally.
What to expect from the download size
If you are upgrading directly from One UI 8.5, prepare for a hefty system download. The public release package weighs in at around 4GB, carrying firmware version DZIF for the core Galaxy S25 trio and CZIF for the S25 FE.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are receiving the CZIH build. However, if you participated in the public beta program over recent weeks, your download will be significantly smaller since most core system files are already installed on your device.
Fresh features, smarter AI, and upgraded device management
One UI 9 brings a healthy mix of visual refinements and functional tweaks to daily use. The Quick Panel gains improved layout controls, while Samsung Notes and DeX pick up workflow enhancements. A newly added Warranty and Care section directly in Settings also lets users run self-diagnostics and check coverage details in one spot.
Galaxy AI tools see notable upgrades as well. A new feature called My FanCam automatically tracks and centers a selected person when editing video clips, making quick social edits much easier. The system also introduces context-aware Now Nudge cards and improved background privacy alerts to flag unauthorized app permission attempts in real time.
You can check for the update manually by opening the Settings app, heading over to Software Update, and tapping Download and Install.
