    Police arrest three people in ‘violent right-wing extremism’ investigation

    Northern Ireland Police did not provide details surrounding the reason for the arrests of two men and one woman

    Police have arrested three people under a terrorism act as part of a cross-border investigation into what it called “violent right-wing extremism”.

    The investigations is being carried out conjunction with An Garda Síochána, the national police service of the Republic of Ireland.

    Two men and one woman were arrested by detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland‘s Serious Crime Branch on Tuesday, December 9.

    The arrests come after searches previously carried out in County Down.

    One man, 38, was arrested in Ballynahinch, another, 48, was arrested in Kilkeel and a woman, 40, was arrested in Lurgan, police said.

    “All three were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 and have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning,” Police Service of Northern Ireland said.

    Northern Ireland Police did not provide details surrounding the reason for their arrests.
