The Sony Xperia 10 VIII is the company’s upcoming mid-range smartphone. This device will become official in a couple of days, on August 25. Sony announced the press event a couple of days ago, and it’s quite obvious what’s coming.
Sony did not exactly confirm that it’s the Xperia 10 VIII, but considering recent reports and the fact that this event is about a new “Xperia Product”, it’s obvious. With that being said, we have an exclusive Sony Xperia 10 VIII leak for you today, showing you a design of the phone itself.
Here’s the design of the Sony Xperia 10 VIII
If you check out the image below, you’ll see the phone in a lady’s hand. This picture shows us only the back of the device. The phone itself doesn’t look completely white, though; it’s as if it has a hint of green in there. Just a little bit, though.
You’ll notice that the phone resembles its predecessor, the Xperia 10 VII, quite a bit. In fact, I’m struggling to see a difference based on this image. The backplate is flat, and there is a horizontal camera bar at the top of the back side. There are two cameras in there, and a Sony logo next to them. An LED flash is also there, as it was on the Xperia 10 VII.
We can only assume that the front of the phone will also be similar to the predecessor. If that ends up being the case, we won’t get a display camera hole or notch, but instead the top and bottom bezels will be a bit thicker than the side bezels.
It seems like it will have a side-facing fingerprint scanner once again
What you can also see in this image, if you take a closer look, is that the phone has volume rocker buttons on the right side, with a power/lock key right below them. That power/lock key doubles as a fingerprint scanner, which is why it’s not protruding from the side.
We do not see a physical camera shutter here, but it’s probably there on the right side, as it was on the Xperia 10 VII. The lady’s hand is probably covering it. We cannot confirm that, though.
The Sony Xperia 10 VIII surfaced on Geekbench quite recently. It managed to score 871 points in a single-core test and 3,028 points in a multi-core test. That listing also confirmed that the phone will include 8GB of RAM, and, seemingly, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor.
A recent listing reported Android 16 out of the box
That’s quite odd, as that same chip was used in the Xperia 10 VII. It’s also weird that Android 16 is mentioned on Geekbench, so it’s possible that it will launch with Android 16 and not Android 17.
At the moment, this device looks way too similar to its predecessor. The design looks basically the same from this angle, while the SoC and RAM count also seem unchanged. It remains to be seen what Sony plans to change. We’ll find out in a couple of days.
