Will the iPhone Ultra launch on time? According to various rumors, there is a general consensus that it will be announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, but its availability could come at a later date. However, the latest reports suggest that everything is on track.

iPhone Ultra could actually launch on time

According to the latest reports out of China, they claim the iPhone Ultra will actually launch on time. This means that its launch will take place this September where it will be announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The report takes things even further, claiming that based on multiple sources within Apple’s supply chain, no one has heard anything about a potential delay.

The report also notes that the design has already been finalized and Apple’s suppliers are already in “peak production season.” They also believe that a delivery in September is “no problem.” That being said, it is possible that both rumor camps could be right.

We have heard rumors that supply might be tight upon launch. This means that even if Apple plans to release the iPhone Ultra in September, you might have a hard time getting your hands on one. An earlier report suggested that Apple might only be able to ship 500,000 to 1 million units at the start. This is apparently about 10% of what the company is hoping to ultimately ship.

What this means for the rumors is that yes, you might be able to buy one at launch, but if you take your sweet time deciding, you might end up waiting for a while.

Apple’s done this before

Typically speaking, Apple usually makes its new iPhones available about 2 weeks after its announcement. However, there is precedent for Apple announcing a product only to ship it later. This includes the iPhone X, which launched a few months after its announcement. Then there was also Apple’s trash can Mac Pro redesign, which was unveiled first but released much later.

So if Apple goes down this path with the iPhone Ultra, it wouldn’t be surprising. However, Apple has a lot riding on the device, with it being their first foldable and all. It would also be a way for Apple to test its customers. It will be interesting to see how many are actually willing to pay as much as $2,500 for an iPhone.
