Now, it looks like Google is making those collaborations easier, especially if you use Google Drive for videos, where you can now leave timestamped comments.
According to Google, the latest update to Google Drive now comes with timestamped comments for videos. In the past, if you wanted to review a video, say for your video editor, you might leave a comment, but then you’d have to mention the timestamp; otherwise, they wouldn’t know what you’re talking about.
However, with this update, Google is introducing timestamped comments for videos. This means that you can leave a comment at a specific time in a video. Let’s say you wanted to mention that this part of the video’s color looks a bit off; you can mention it at the specific time. Or if you wanted captions to be bigger, you could do that too.
Google says, “Each timestamped comment generates a visual marker directly on the video player timeline. Clicking a marker automatically jumps to that point in the video and highlights the associated comment, allowing reviewers and video owners to navigate feedback without manually scrubbing through media files.”
The company notes that normal commenting capabilities are still fully supported. That won’t be going away. Instead, users will now have a different and more specific way of leaving comments on videos.
Changes through the years
In the past, Google Drive used to be just a platform for backing up files. But over the years, Google has improved on its functionality, turning it into more than just cloud storage. We’ve seen improvements Google made, especially for videos.
Some of those changes include being able to access and search for transcripts for videos.
