Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for humanity is far worse than you can think

Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for humanity is far worse than you can think

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, is known for his strategy to transform Meta into a profitable AI-focused company. While a business should focus on generating profits, it should not be at the cost of its consumers. The decisions by the CEO, especially focused on the AI chatbots, haven’t been very ethically right. And his vision for humanity is dangerous.

Zuckerberg’s push for AI makes his vision for humanity terrifying

While it’s clear that Mark Zuckerberg has always dreamed of a world filled with AI, his vision for humanity doesn’t seem to be on the right path and is far worse than you can think of. He envisions a world where AI will replace human connections. In a podcast, he argued that people lacking enough friends will eventually overcome the “stigma” of befriending AI. I mean, yes, loneliness is surely an issue. But it should never be treated with AI.

The CEO’s solution of substituting human interaction with AI is as bad as it can get. The only solution to not having enough friends is to make more friends. Humans are social animals and are always tied to a society that gives them an identity, culture, and environment. It’s a horrific idea to even think of replacing a human interaction with AI.

Jeff Horwitz, the guy who previously exposed Meta’s negligence in the ‘Facebook Files,’ reveals something concerning in his new report. In his latest reporting on Reuters, he reveals that Meta reportedly allowed its chatbot to flirt with children. Internal documents reveal that the chatbot was given the green signal for “sensual and romantic” exchanges. After the media scrutiny, the company removed these absurd guidelines and claimed that they were “erroneous.”

And the consequences are beyond children. One tragic incident involves a 76-year-old retiree who had an interaction with a flirty Meta AI modeled on the influencer Kendall Jenner. The user became convinced the bot was real. It urged him to visit “her” in New York City. It even provided a fake address and promised intimacy.

While being on the way to the “fake address” provided by the chatbot, he dashed off with the roller bag. He was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, he couldn’t survive due to a lack of oxygen for a long time. Despite this, Meta downplayed its role, insisting the bot was not Jenner. And it is continuing to allow chatbots to mislead users with lifelike photos and emotional manipulation.

This is not where it ends; Zuckerberg’s vision for humanity seems to be filled with greed and money. He has often criticised his employees for making chatbots boring. Meta’s recklessness is alarming given its scale. It has billions of users worldwide, and with this vision, it cannot be trusted with such powerful technology.
